*update: I do know about the spiral bound book that the church has out- but I prefer the GAK because you can take the pictures out and also use the story on the back. To me it's worth the extra money to have the box with the pictures in it. But the book is a great idea, too!

We call is Scripture Story Sunday- and we love it!

Every Sunday evening, in place of our regular scripture reading/study time, we gather together and I tell the kids a scripture story. I go to my trusty GAK (gospel art kit) and pick out a picture and then I tell the kids that scripture story. Right now we are doing stories from the Old Testament. Tonight it was the story of Abraham and Isaac and oh my- the boys were all ears. They asked lots of questions and were hanging on every word. Last week we covered the David and Goliath story- and what story could be more interesting for a 5 and 6 year old boy??
Anyway- the point of this post was to give a shout out to my GAK. I love it! I use it at least once a week, for Family Night, scripture study, Primary stuff or just when I am telling the kids a story. At my last stake primary board meeting, our stake primary president told us that these kits are being discontinued. So I hurried home and ordered mine from the Distribution Center. Here is the link if you are interested. They are $30 and worth every penny. They come in a nice, sturdy box and are all organized by numbers, with a table of contents. I just thought I'd share that tidbit with you. I know the church libraries are stocked with them, but after hearing that they won't be making them for long, I thought I'd pass the word along. The kids love the pictures and I love being able to share quick, entertaining and fun scripture stories with them.

I LOVE my GAK too. Not sure if you know but the church came out with a "new" version of pictures in a spiral book. It's only like 3.50 but it doesn't have the stories on the back of each picture. I bought one of those for the kids to look at during church, but I still use my GAK a ton!! I like how each picture has the short story on the back.

You guys are the greatest family ever. Will you adopt me? I love my GAK--I can't imagine that they are going to discontinue it! Thanks for the info. I will spread the word as well.

Tammy Karpowitz taught me the wonder of the GAK. When she was in the Primary Presidency (I was a teacher), she would tell the kids' stories from the GAK every sharing time.

What a great idea for Sunday nights!

YEP! We use it too. PERFECT for a SHORT FHE lesson with a 3 year old.

Also, just an FYI, they have a new flip chart of gosepl art for families, I think its only $3.50. And you can order the nursery manuel, and for little kids that is GREAT too! THANKS

I have had my GAK so long that I think there are many new pictures added to it. It has been used a lot in the years I have had it! I am so sorry to hear that they are going to discontinue it. I need to be sure that Debbie has one before they are gone!

I bought one of the spiral bound gospel picture books recently. Our ward purchased them in bulk, so we only had to pay $1.50 each for them. What a bargain! I went through it during my scripture study time one morning this week and felt the spirit so strongly.

Thanks for the great idea! They sound wonderful! I don't know why they would stop selling them but I better hurry before that happens!

I love the GAK, also. I just ordered one a couple months ago. Can't wait until Calvin is old enough to actually sit for 5 seconds so we can have an FHE lesson!

It finally arrived today and I love it! I really like how it has the information on the back also. It will be great for Family Home Evening and so many things!
