2 Boys, 2 Hospitals

On Thursday, Carter had his renal scan at Children's Hospital of Orange County. I can't remember if I have posted about his kidney's lately- I know I sent an email out to family. There is still some concern about his kidneys. At 4 weeks we had an ultrasound which led to a diagnosis of hydronephrosis. Then he had a VCUG- which wasn't very much fun for him. After that test, we met with a pediatric urologist and after going over the films- he ordered the renal scan. Poor little Carter was on the X-ray table for an hour and a half! He did amazing and barely cried- except when they put in the catheter and the IV in his foot. He actually fell asleep and slept through half of it. We haven't heard back about the results yet- hopefully tomorrow. Here are a couple pictures Aaron took with his iPhone- so the quality isn't that great.

On Friday morning we were all sitting around the island having breakfast. Jake stood up on Aaron's barstool to get something off the top of the fridge. In typical Jake fashion, he fell. He fell backwards hitting the corner of the wall and split the back of his head wide open. I know head wounds bleed a lot so we cleaned it up and tried to get a closer look at it- Jake has lots of hair! Indeed, it was a pretty gnarly gash and it was very obvious that he needed stitches. Luckily Aaron was home, so he took Jake to the ER. He got 3 staples and was a champ. They didn't numb it or anything and Aaron said he didn't cry or make a peep! Of course, he was back to his normal activities as soon as he got home- running, jumping, wrestling and anything else those 2 crazy boys can think up!

WARNING: Don't look at the pictures below, if you have a weak stomach- the bottom one is pretty gory.

The pictures of Carter break my heart, he's too little to be under all those machines :( Let me know if you need anything! The pictures of Jacob just crack me up... that little guy is always getting fixed up, broken bones, bleeding, staff infection... what's next? Hope you had fun at the beach today! :)

I love your new blog layout. I hope the results of Carter's renal scan were good! That's so amazing that he only cried for the IV and catheter. He's a tough little guy! And same with Jake, amazing that they didn't numb it first. We'll be out the first week in August! We can't wait to see you guys and meet Carter!
